EXCELLENT Based on 66 reviews Craigmac352023-05-23Verified Great location - friendly staff We stayed here for 2 nights as we were planning a school trip in the future. The location was fantastic and there were some great views and lovely surroundings. The owner (Fellie) was very friendly and helpful and made some great meals whilst we were there. The location is very close to the park and above one of the areas where boats and ferries leave from.Definitely recommend this place whilst in Queens. Katuutu G2023-02-10Verified Tembo safari lodge It the best all around queen Elizabeth ,it’s accessible and has welcoming staff the food was served on time and the beds were so comfortable literally it was my home away from home❤️and the lady called grace is the best always smiling my name sake🙌😩 Kati T2023-01-22Verified Lodge zum Wohlfühlen Sehr großes und geräumiges Zimmer mit tollem Balkon und Aussicht auf den Kazinga Channel und den Boitsanleger. Sehr zurückhaltende und freundliche Mitarbeiter, die sehr zügig alles erledigen. Das Essen ist gut und an europäische Mägen angepasst. Sander d2022-12-19Verified Nice accommodation but horrible hospitality The lodges are beautiful, but have sticky floors and the manager really does not understand how hospitality works. My advise: don’t go here.Long version:We arrived early evening after a long drive. We called for a reservation a few hours before and got a rate of 60 usd including breakfast. Upon arrival, we noticed there was some music playing close by. We inquired about the time the music would stop as we were in need of a good nights rest. They told us it should be gone by 8-10pm. Alright that’s fine. We then inquired about doing laundry. We had a big bag and wanted to know the quotation beforehand. They told us they would let us know. We explicitly said there is sensitive clothing and should not be washed on temperatures higher than 40 degrees. Half an hour later we asked them about the quotation. No quotation but they did put everything in the washing machine already (note that it is sprung 8pm). So drying outside wouldn’t work, they told us they would use the dryer. Well, not possible of course due to the sensitive clothing. But the worst part came when they told us it would cost us about 25 USD for our socks, shorts, t shirts and a trouser. Without a quotation. This is just plain and simple a rip off. The worst part of our stay was during the night. By 10pm the music had only worsened. We went to the manager to ask when it would stop: within 30 minutes. Well, you guessed it: 10:30, still very loud dance music. It really was too much to be able to sleep and in the end it lasted until after 6:00 am.. our alarm clock rang at 5:45 as we were heading for a game drive. The good thing is that the manager throughout the night really tried to get the music to stop. Even involving the police. Which was not able to do anything… the manager wasn’t happy and of course himself had a hard time sleeping. I appreciate the effort he put into this. However, we learned that the same problem happened the previous night, including unhappy customers like us. Still, he chose not to inform us about the likely change of a second party (apparently that’s custom for funerals, which it was?)In the end we may have slept at most an hour. Not the best start for a game drive. But the manager can’t be blamed for the disrespectful neighbors. What he can be blamed for is how he handled our check out. We told him we did not want to pay for this horrible night. We would pay him for the cost made but nothing else. In reply he insulted us but granting us a discount of 10 USD. After this, a very long discussion and negotiation followed ending up with both parties unhappy. We paid him in the end about 30 USD for the room and 18 USD for laundry (?!?) as we wanted to go. In my opinion this manager truly does not understand hospitality. If a client has a genuine complaint and really bad experience then you don’t start negotiating. We were willing to cover his cost but to make profit of such a horrible experience is just plain wrong. If he would’ve said something along the lines of “I’m sorry, thank you for covering the cost and we hope to see you again” then this review would’ve been about the neighbors, Not the manager. Please be careful with booking this accommodation. Mitchtravels2022-09-13Verified Hippos! Second time staying here and I enjoyed the visit.Nice budget option with fab views of the Kazinga channel.Great place to stay when doing the boat cruise as you can walk to the community boats. The food was delicious!Rooms are fab, nice and big.Unfortunately hot water wasn't working when we were there.Other than that the stay was great. The hippos come around at night and you can hear them munching around the room and vocalising from the water. Julie2022-08-22Verified An amazing place to stay! Tembo Safari Lodge was the perfect spot for us to stay. We stayed two nights and could have easily stayed longer! Fellie is so personable and welcoming, we found all the staff extremely helpful. The accommodations, food and service were all great. We stayed in one of their family cottages. The location was just what I hoped for, the best of both worlds. We had a great view of the Kasinga Channel with a private, comfortable deck seating area to enjoy it. We could hear and watch wildlife as well as faint sounds of town and the boat dock area. Hippos pass by at night and before dawn feeding on the grass. We loved listening to their sounds. Some of the high end resorts are so far removed from the wonderful culture and community we found exploring Ugandan communities. At Tembo Safari Lodge we were situated just off the edge of town, town was in easy walking distance through a back gate. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with locally crafted decorations and furnishings. The price was just what we needed to make our trip possible. The boat dock is in view of the cottages and within easy walking distance. Fellie arranged for a cruise at a time that worked with our schedule with two locals. It was fabulous. The lodge is less than a 10 minute drive from the Kasenyi park entrance and the start of the loop through the Explosion Craters area of the Park. There is no question that we will stay here again on our next visit! Steve B2022-08-13Verified Recommended for Queen Elizabeth NP Excellent, spacious, very clean room with an excellent balcony overlooking the channel. Very well located. Easy walk to boat trip and permits for park can be bought from the same location. Very friendly staff. Evening meals were a bit disappointing but lunch and breakfast fine. Calls itself a budget hotel which makes it sound a bit down-market - it isn't. It is however very reasonably priced. Marta2022-08-07Verified Amazing place!!! This place is absolutely stunning!!! The best place so far in our week stay so far in Uganda. Rooms are beautifully furnished and spacious with amazing views to the Mazinga channel. Service is super professional and friendly and food is made of delicious local dishes with a variety of choices. We highly recommend it. Best of the best value for price. Feli is a warm, friendly and professional manager/ owner. Silvester2022-07-30Verified Wonderful stay for couple! Amazing accommodation right by the Kazinga Channel. Just steps away from community canal cruises. The staff was really nice and helpful. The rooms are beautifully cleaned and very spacious. The private terrace is an excellent place to spend free time, while you can order service (drinks, small meals) directly to the room or terrace. Romantic breakfasts and dinners in restaurants overlooking the canal and incredible numbers of hippos are definitely not to be missed!
